Why did FPL Energy add nuclear energy into its fuel mix with the purchase of the Seabrook Station?

We acquired Seabrook Station in New Hampshire in 2001, which strengthened our competitive position in the Northeast and provided an excellent complement to our existing portfolio in the region. FPL Energy now owns and operates a diversified fleet of nuclear, oil, natural gas and hydroelectric facilities in the region. Seabrook is providing a significant safe, low-cost and reliable power supply for FPL Energy to market in conjunction with the rest of our Northeast capacity.
